Achter het nummer

Good Time Comin' was het eerste voltooide nummer voor het Cosmic Cabaret-album en zette de sonische richting voor het hele project. De baslijn was geïnspireerd op klassieke funkplaten uit de jaren 70, met name het werk van Larry Graham. Het nummer was aanvankelijk bedoeld als een instrumentale jam, maar Groovella voegde zang toe toen duidelijk werd dat de groove een lyrische tegenhanger vereiste. De feestelijke blazersstabs werden toegevoegd tijdens een late mixsessie en werden het meest herkenbare element van het nummer. De B-side-versie verkent een uitgebreider arrangement met extra instrumentale solo's.

Het nummer heeft een carefree funk groove about letting go and enjoying the moment-sfeer en combineert Nu-Funk-elementen met Groovella's kenmerkende retro-moderne productie.
