Achter het nummer

Carousel Hearts werd geïnspireerd door een vintage kermis aan de rand van Parijs die Groovella als kind bezocht. De 3/4-maatsoort werd gekozen om het zachte op en neer van draaimolenpaarden na te bootsen — het walsgevoel geeft het nummer een nostalgische, filmische kwaliteit. Het strijkersarrangement werd opgenomen met een klein ensemble, bewust licht ontstemd voor warmte. Tekstueel verkent het nummer hoe relaties patronen herhalen zonder identiek te herhalen; de artiest wilde een volwassen liefdeslied dat eindes erkent zonder hoop te verliezen.

Het nummer heeft een bittersweet waltz about love's beautiful cycles and turning seasons-sfeer en combineert Jazz-pop-elementen met Groovella's kenmerkende retro-moderne productie.
