Lyrics

Round and round the painted horses go Up and down the lights begin to glow We were golden at the start Two young riders, wild at heart Music box beneath our feet Every turn felt bittersweet Some rides end, some begin anew Still I keep on thinking of you Carousel hearts spinning slow Round the love we used to know Hold on tight or let it go That's the way the carousel flows Calliope is playing soft Memories in the loft Maybe we'll meet on top again When the carnival begins Round and round but not the same Every circle writes a name If we part, we'll find our way Back to the ride another day

Behind the Song

Carousel Hearts was inspired by a vintage fairground on the outskirts of Paris that Groovella visited as a child. The 3/4 time signature was chosen to mimic the gentle rise and fall of carousel horses — the waltz feel gives the song a nostalgic, cinematic quality. The string arrangement was recorded with a small ensemble and deliberately kept slightly detuned for warmth. Lyrically, the song explores how relationships repeat patterns without repeating identically; the artist wanted a mature love song that acknowledges endings without losing hope.

The track has a bittersweet waltz about love's beautiful cycles and turning seasons vibe, blending Jazz-pop elements with Groovella's signature retro-modern production style.
