Rooftop Rendezvousは、モンマルトルの友人のテラスで街がきらめく夜を過ごした後に書かれました。ナイロン弦ギターはヴィンテージのGibsonで一テイク録音し、指の擦れる音や息づかいまで近接マイクで捉えています。Groovellaは、二人の恋人とジャズ・トリオの会話を立ち聞きしているような——親密で、急がず、ほんのり酔った——雰囲気を目指しました。ブラシ・スネアのパターンはクラシックなフランス・シャンソン盤から借り、サビでは重ねたボーカル・ハーモニーでモダンなポップの輝きを加えています。
